The story of a
King, his son and a small English army making a desperate stand on a
gentle hill between Wadicourt any Crecy in northern France was the trigger
for my love of the English longbow. I think we all love winners and the application of a radical idea. At the time the longbow made a major difference, a peasant was armed and lethal to even a nobleman at a distance. |

The aim of Bob
Bannister Archery is to promote the medieval longbow and the practice
and shooting in a medieval style. Most of the rules and methods for
modern longbow shooting are Victorian and as such are an excellent way
of governing a sport. As far as we can, we are attempting to adopt a style described and illustrated in the period from Edward the first to Henry the eighth. |
| We are able to offer various courses
via colleges and the few we run ourselves. Lone of equipment means that you can try Archery with out the expense of purchase of bows and arrows. All courses have a historical content you can learn the origins of a number of useful sayings and gestures as well as immerse yourself in the history. |
